The Client
Over the last 15 years, Spotlight has worked with a variety of clients in the luxury sector and assisted the recruitment of marketing, events, digital, design, and communications roles. Our luxury clients operate across areas such as luxury fashion, beauty and cosmetics, and accessories to name a few. We were recently approached by a prestigious D2C retail brand, who were looking to hire a Head of Product to join their growing team.
The Challenge
Our team were briefed that the client was looking for an experienced Head of Product to lead the product team to develop profitable, customer-focused products that fulfil the brand’s long-term strategy. It was vital that the candidates presented had strong experience of product marketing in a D2C setting, as well as experience of team management and working with senior business directors. The ideal candidate would be a strategic thinker that can confidently make decisions based on data and analysis. Though this role was a slightly different variation of the usual marketing roles we work on, we were assured that our large network of over 95,000 followers on LinkedIn would assist our search for talented, senior candidates.
Our team got to work, devoting an Account Manager with strong expertise in this sector who then devised a tailored recruitment campaign to source relevant candidates. The Account Manager then conducted our own stringent shortlisting and interviewing process in order to ensure that the candidates presented to the client were a great fit in terms of previous experience.
The Solution
From the initial round of five strong candidates sent to our client, four were initially taken forward to interview. For this role, the process consisted of a first stage video interview, followed by a second stage interview held at their office with a presentation to present. One candidate excelled in their first interview and was swiftly invited for a second. Our client was extremely impressed by their presentation and thought they would be a perfect fit within the team, so was therefore offered the role of Head of Product. We were so pleased that this first recruitment process with this new client was efficient and successful, and we have since worked on a number of roles on their behalf and look forward to continuing this relationship in the future.
